Graceful Aging Wellness Center (GAWC) is more than just a fitness and wellness center. We’re a community anchor located in one of the world’s top nature destinations that brings people 40+ together to celebrate all stages of aging. We’re a gathering place that offers wellness in all areas, from fostering community and new friendships, to helping our members nurture their spiritual and mindfulness journeys. A division of Bethlen Communities, we believe in integrating the International Council of Active Aging’s Seven Dimensions of Wellness and support our members in discovering their sovereignty in living an optimal, fulfilling life.
GAWC gives members dynamic and unique classes to support the Seven Dimensions of Wellness: social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, occupational, intellectual, and physical.

Our Instructors

Please help us welcome Dan Griffin as our new Fitness Manager. Dan is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and has received training and certification through Club Management Training, The International Health and Racquet Sports Association (IHRSA), and the American College of Sports Medicine. During his career in the health and fitness industry, he has been a popular presenter on health, wellness, and vitality in the Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. Dan has designed and helped plan health and wellness facilities in the for-profit arena as well as for municipal community centers. As the General Manager of the Oxford Athletic Club and Downtown Athletic Club of Pittsburgh, he successfully developed a customer service mentality. Dan was recognized by IHRSA for his expertise in management and member retention skills. We will be looking forward to his “Coffee & Conversation” series starting soon. Watch for important postings on-line, in your email, and around the Graceful Aging Wellness Center that will include health, wellness, and operational information that Dan wants to share!
Dan is at GAWC Mondays and Fridays from 8am-12pm
Our Classes
SilverSneakers Chair Yoga
Beginner
This hour-long class emphasizes range of motion about the joint and helps to improve balance and flexibility. Mindful breathing helps participants release stress and feel energized. We work on posture and pay special attention to stretching the neck, back and shoulders.
Zumba Gold
Beginner-Moderate
An aerobic fitness program featuring movements inspired by various styles of Oldies and Classic Rock music. Zumba Gold is a low-intensity work out.
Gentle Mindful Movement Yoga
Physical, Social, Emotional, Intellectual
All Levels
Join Ange from Red Brick Yoga live and in-person for a 6-week Gentle Mindful Movement series right here at GAWC. RBY signature Gentle Yoga class is great for beginners and seasoned yogis! Ange will focus on basic yoga poses, healthy spine alignment, balance, mobility, flexibility, and mindful breath awareness. If you have been wanting to begin a yoga practice and reap the many health benefits that yoga has to offer… now is the time!
TRX
TRX stands for Total Body Resistance Exercise. TRX bands suspended from the ceiling allows for assistance and resistance for effective workouts that strengthen the entire body. TRX is an excellent way to improve balance, increase self confidence, and enjoy being with others.
TRX is a self-paced class with no instructor. Must have previous TRX experience to join.
Longevity Weight Training
All Levels
Strong bodies are linked to strong minds. Strength training builds confidence, muscle, and healthy tissue. All levels. Modifications will be individually created.
